Goulds hunt

So I want to start doing research for a goulds hunt. Anybody have any info on this that has done it? Obviously I want to use a outfitter. What about guns and bringing the bird back?Not worried about being in Mexico, just worried about go in in and out with guns and bird. I know people do it all the time, would just be a first for me. How do you guys do it?

There are several good outfitters out there.  El Halcon, Rio sonora are two that come to mind.  I have been told by the outfitters that bringing guns in and out can be a pain.  I will be going to el halcon next week and will be using guns they have there.  For bringing your turkeys back you can simply put them in your suitcase.  You will have to stop by the usda at the airport and check them in on the way back.  Your guide shout already have sent them the info prior to your arriving to give them a heads up.  We had to provide a taxidermist and their usda number prior to the trip. You will have to have a usda taxidermist.  Research them carefully

Did my Gould's with El Halcon.

Manuel is a friend and an all around OUTSTANDING individual.

Used his gun..................a Beretta...............and killed one on the first day, then another the second day of a 3 day hunt.  Spent the third day relaxing in some pretty posh accommodations.  The USDA at customs was like 5 minutes or less.

You will NOT hunt finer Gould's country or with a finer outfitter than Manuel at El Halcon.

I went last year with El Corral and had a good hunt. I would also look at El Halcon and Rio Sonora. If you want to fly into Mexico go with El Halcon. If you want to be picked up on the U.S. side check out Rio Sonora or El Corral. Most outfitters will have guns for you to use. Bringing birds back across the border was no trouble. Your outfitter should take care of all that paper work for you. You will need to pick a USDA approved taxidermist ahead of time.

Saving my clams...no more out of state trips for me probably until the goulds and ocellated have been reduced to possession.
