So who uses a blind and which one is the best.  Going to buy one for next year for me and my boy.  Don't want one real expensive and would like it to be easy to set up in case we had to move..  My buddy has an ameristep but it's huge. Made for bow hunters to stand up in.  Whats your thoughts and experiences??

Thanks!!

I've got an old Primos GroundMax hat I got for $99 from Basspro a few years ago - works great and has help up very well.  I leave it up for several weeks every season on the property we hunt and it hasn't faded or degraded.  Good shooting windows.

I guess that's my recommendation for Double Bull or Primos.  The Double Bull Double wide was on sale not long ago with a $75 rebate and I think that got the price down to 179 or 199 which is a great price.

My buddy has a cabbalas version and it has undergone the same use for the last 2 years with no problems - it sets up the same as a Primos/double bull.

They alll set up pretty easy, but best to practice in the daylight at home a few dozen times.

I'll second the doghouse. It is super easy though I only use it first thing n never move it. If things don't work out on the roost I just go run n gun old school. You don't need dekes or blinds but they sure keep you dry during early morn showers. The dekes may help the boy get a shot off too.
My buddy just bought the shack attacking n that one is pretty cool too

There are some nice ones on the market, for sure, but I tend to stay near the lower end of the scale, just because they're usually lighter.  Packing them in and out is a PIA.

I could not agree more.  I don't want to have to fool with any sticks and such.  Just want to able to pop it up and it supports it's self!  I don't use blinds myself but sometimes my & year old has a hard time setting still

I had a dog house, bought a double bull... there's a huge difference! You need to hunt in both to understand. Just my  :z-twocents:

The Double Bulls are certainly nice.  I almost snagged one while they were on sale a few weeks ago, but was too slow.  I used to have a Doghouse, and they were easy to carry around, but the walls would flap in the wind...and the wind is almost ALWAYS blowing around here.  Cheaper hub style designs fixed that problem, though.

I had 2 of the Ameristep Intimadaters and after years of use wanted to replace one. I think they quit making them so bought a couple of the Double Bull Deluxe blinds which are decent blinds, but I like my Ameristep blind alot better...360 view and lighter to carry...

I like the primos double bull

My wife did a lot of research and bought me the gander mountain 2 person invisi blind.  For the price, I am really happy with it.  Its a typical hub type and sets up in a minute or two.  It also has a sliding window system that is silent, which is great.  Lastly, it has a nice backpack style case and is very portable & lightweight.

Well I have a number of blinds and they get USED for turkey and deer. All of my blinds are DOUBLE BULL's the oldest I bought 14 years ago and still use and going strong!

I have

T2
IP5
(2) Dark Horse's
(2) Double Wide's

If you take care of them they last...

Hunted a Ameristep Brickhouse into the ground. Sewing of the corners and duct taping one rod, works as good, and will still kill birds as good as ever. My dad purchased a Primos Club XL and I'll tell ya they're roomy, sweet to set up, great camo, but boy they're pretty heavy. When toting that big thing plus 3 dekes (strutter and spread), big lounge chair, loaded down backpack, 12 gauge, AND a bird out over your shoulder its not actually too bad. Take the bird out of the equation 3-4 hunts in a row, you'll usually starting more running and gunning, those loaded treks are KILLER and if I'm by myself, I rarely put that upon myself. Hunted with my dad the other day, he carried his gun and chair, I carried the rest, but knowing I got to go with hunting with him after asking about 100 or more times this season, I didn't even care. I was stoked..... But back to the point. Ground blinds are the reason I had so much success as a youth turkey hunter, and why I cherish hunting with my father so much. While the birds I killed out of the blind were way more memorable as I learned the ways of freezing still amongst the eyes of the sober girl at the party trying to ruin your fun, but the ground blinds allowed me to put more birds on the ground as a youth hunter than a lot of guys kill in their live. And that's what got me hooked. While youth hunting, understanding the important lessons of hunting in itself is what counts, but then being successful is what really what sets up the foundation of all the other memories and stories you get to share while in the blind. It's a more bonding experience, and has enabled the "double" to now take place at nothing more than the ease of calling the two birds in. Some would say ground blinds are cheating, but I believe in them, particularly for youth and learning hunters, but as a very viable way to put birds on the ground if you're in an area with a lot of turkeys and like to just sit and wait for them to eventually peak interest.

Ordered me an Ameristep Care Taker hub blind.  Was on sale for $78.  Should be here in a couple of days.  I'll give a follow up once i set it up.
