Personalized call value?

See a lot of nice calls personalized that's for sell... how much does that hurt value of call?  Kinda a deal breaker for me. Just wondering y'alls thoughts

ol bob

I buy call because of who made them not for what's wrote on the bottom. Example if Neal Cost made it don't matter who he made it for but less say he made it for Earl Mickhel then its worth a lot more.

It doesn't really matter about the name on the bottom, that can easily be removed by the call maker if you so chose, so if you get a good deal, its worth it in my opinion.   Also, if the call sounds great, like ol bob said, tom the turkey doesn't care about the writing on the bottom, use it, that's what they are meant for. There are not too many current custom calls out there that would sell for a whole lot more than you paid for them, maybe lamar, bald, oesterle.  But since most of them are still alive and making calls, going to be a very long time before they starting bringing in dough. Just my opinion, like to see what others have to say.

The name on the call doesn't bother me...i really don't think it would drop the price...like said earlier if it's a famous name it might up it...condition is what does it for me..same with pots..bit I don't want it all scratched up

Whenever I order calls i specify I don't want them personalized to me. I shy away from calls on the secondary market that are personalized to someone and hold out until one comes up that isn't.The turkeys don't know what's written on them, but I do. If I'm spending my hard earned money I don't care to carry a call with someone else's name on it. I think it hurts the resale value. Some people care and some don't whether it's personalized. If they are not know one will shy away if it's desirable.

I stopped having them personalized but I don't have any issue hunting one not addressed to me if it sounds good. It matters to some buyers but I think there's enough here that it doesn't bother that it doesn't hurt the value as someone will pay an appropriate price.

This is funny, cause I always personalize my wingbones and Jordans unless the customer specifies not to. I have been doing that for as long as I've been making calls. For me, it is really personal to make a call specifically for someone.

I also wouldn't mind at all buying a call that was personalized to someone else. Just adds to the history of the call.

I have not seen many people mention Niles Oesterle.  Great guy and great calls!
