Weatherby SA-459 piston?

Finally picked up my SA-459 turkey 12 gauge. I read the specs for each pistons. The heavy says 1290 fps minimum and the light says 1325 fps. Those seem fairly fast. The 3" longbeard #6 are 1200 fps which is below the minimum for the heavy. However I rarely hear about people having cycling issues with turkey loads. I have really only heard about issues with 2 3/4 shells. What pistons are other owners using and what are your experiences with either?

I wouldn't worry about the FPS.  If the shell is 3in.. shoot the Heavy piston.  2 3/4 gets the light.  This has always worked in all 3 of my Weatherby SA guns.

That is kind of what I figured. This is my first semi auto shotgun and have to experience with changing pistons and didn't know what to expect. Thanks for the info.

I know for a fact mine will not cycle a dove load with the heavy collar, but will cycle any turkey load I've shot out of it!

They recommend shooting a box of high brass out of gun to break it in which I didn't do turkey loads are high brass!
