Baiting question, SC and protein feeder

I have access to hunt a piece of property in SC. The owner however has a few protein feeders set up, gravity not broadcasting FWIW. Obviously don't want to hunt over bait but not sure how this would play out, he's def not going to stop protein feeding so that's not an option. Anyone deal w this issue?

As you probably know, it is illegal to hunt turkey over bait, up to 10 days past the bait being gone. I doubt you are going to get any more from DNR than you cannot hunt over the feeders.

Are you stuck to having to hunt over/near the feeders? Any chance that you can just stay away from them and hope that the turkeys do as well?

I'm aware of general baiting rules but a protein pellet made up of non grain seems like it "should" be OK. I'll give DNR a call, but doubt I'll get anyone on the phone who can adequately answer it.

Not certain how it works in your state but anything that's placed (not planted) by hand and is attracting game is classified as bait in many states. Good luck.

I wouldn't hunt anywhere near it so unless it's a big piece I'd personally decline the prop

Your mileage may vary, but one spring I was in a small group that subleased the turkey hunting rights from a deer hunting club on a 900 ac tract in upstate SC.  They had two protein feeders they were running in the off season in one corner of the property.  We were told by game wardens that they would consider the whole property baited until 10 days after the feeders were emptied and all the protein pellets were gone.  As said before, I would definitely contact the local warden before hunting.
