Lovett, today i watched a group of about 45 turkeys 5 of them were toms, all the toms ahd small beards, 4-5 inches, some were shorter even than the jakes beards. i think if it was a melanin deficient or caused by fighting/injury it may be 1 tom but 5? there was also a bird with a full fan and mature wingpatches that was smaller body size than the jakes and had a smaller tail fan than the jakes had that were strutting beside him and also smaller than any fan i had seen before, why is this?
