Guys I screwed up today

Guys I made a mistake this afternoon and mistook a jake for a mature bird.  This is the first time I have ever done this.  I am thankful for every Turkey I take, but I am really kicking myself for not being more careful.  Anyway something good comes out of everything and I have some more tastey turkey and a very hard valuable lesson learned.  I still have can take one more Turkey here in GA, and I'll make it count!

Don't beat yourself up over it, I am tickled to death for you. Congratulations, bird down. Number two and so far a great season for yourself. Let see some pictures, brag on it instead be down about it. Great Job.

Thanks Dustin, I apreciate the kind words.  I have been thinking about this since I shot him at 4PM this afternoon, he gave me a good hunt, and that's all that matters.  Here are my pictures.  I'm back after them tomorrow.  I have attached a pic of nice bird I got on my trail cam 200 yards or so from where I shot today's bird.

That bird is suffering from beard rot and his spurs are just wore down from all the fighting he's been doing, thats all.

Congrates on a good bird, it's the hunt that matters, I have a jake fan and beard mounted just for that reason, he was a great hunt.

Dustin the last two feathers on each end were shorter.  He was pretty close to being a full fan.

Thanks Dan. Yesterday morning I heard three birds, and today I heard five.  There gobbling pretty good.  There still henned up.  It should get better this next couple of weeks.  I am off the 16-25th, and I hope most of the hens willl be on nest at that point.
