Anybody have any experience with the long beard 31/2" 4 shot? How do they pattern? What kind of numbers should I be shooting for at 40 yards?

Bamalimbhanger

I had 145 in a 10" circle, that was point of aim

I shot em. Don't remember the numbers but they were a pinch off n I had to get sights to correct. They did shoot good though n the one bird I used em on was flattened more dramatically than I've ever seen. Was only one bird so I can say if the load did it. I don't know why I used 4s so long though, patterns are better/fuller if you drop down in shot sizes n I personally have.

I'm presently shooting the 3" version of this shell. Posted some pic's of my patterns earlier. Like this shell a lot!!

We used to shoot X2's , 935's and 835's with grand slam 3.5 "turkey loads with 4 shot, through stardot chokes and they were devastating on those pasture turkeys.
125-140 in the 10" at 40 was all the pattern density that was needed.
We figured with big 3.5 shells and going for power and range that the hard hitting 4 shot was the ticket.
Right or wrong theory IDK but every one went down like a sack of taters and we didn't have to jump up like mad men to get a foot on their necks! Lol

Lol thanks for yalls input. I just got a jebs .660 yesterday at the NTWF convention and jebs and hevi shot both recommended trying out the number 4s first. I'll go to hevi shot if a have to but I like the long beards and I really like their price compared to the hevi shot.

I'm putting up 140-150 with a Rob Roberts 655 in my sbe2... this is actually the only shell I've found to shoot poa\poi with just my beads.

I don't hunt with them.  But I sure like them !!

In messing around, trying all 3 shot sizes in the 3 1/2" shells, my SX3 was putting 65-70 #4's  in the 10" at 60 yards.

Not only a SUPER turkey load, but oughta wear awfully hard on foxes and coyotes, too.

The good Lord ain't made a gobbler I can't kill.  I just gotta be there at the right time.....  on the day he wants to die.
