I am looking for a place to hunt this spring in Delaware. I put in for the public land draw for Redden State Forest and wasn't drawn and now I have a $305 turkey license and no place to hunt. Trying to kill a bird in every state so I'm not looking for someone's best spot and would keep coming back. Willing to pay a trespass fee or work out a swap hunt for something in Tennessee. Let me know what you got. Appreciate it!

That's a steep NR license, so Delaware doesn't have public you can just hunt you have to apply for it all?

man that stinks!  Hope something turns up for you!

sharpspur

No public other than drawing a tag for it. The cost of the license is based on what your state charges for non resident, so Tennessee charges $305 for an annual license. Delaware calls it reciprocal license, however its not exactly reciprocal. Tennessee has a 7 day license for a lot less money, they don't recognize it and in Tennessee  you can kill 4 birds in the spring. I asked them since its reciprocal, if I could kill 4 in Delaware........their answer was no.
I promise if I can just kill one bird, I will NEVER be back to Delaware!!!! LOL

sharpspur

OH, by the way, there is no priority points for not drawing either. You could possibly put in every year and never draw or you could put in and draw every year while other don't!!!! Not exactly a fair system!

TauntoHawk

And you have to buy the license before you draw and if you don't you are up the creek. Goodness no wonder I dont know anyone hunting that state

Hope someone can help you out maybe place a Craigslist add as crazy as it sounds I know people who have used it for hunting leases before maybe advertise you are looking for a tresspass fee set up

You have to buy license and get stuck if don't draw? If so that is some rough gambling

Yes to apply for a public land permit, you have to purchase the license before you can apply. The tags are vey limited. I was told 85% draw rate last year on what I was putting in for. Either I was VERY unlucky or more people applied for the time I wanted to hunt this year.

I doubt there's an 85% draw rate.  I know lots of fellas that don't get picked. I put in for an unpopular area for the 1st week.  3 out of the last 4 years, I've drawn the 4th week.
