Went to buy a digital cam corder today and found one I liked but the memory card the store suggested - 64 gb sdxc - was $140.
Do I need a 64 gb card to film hunts?
If so where can I find a better price?

You can buy a smaller card, it just won't hold as much video. I'd at least get a 16g. As long as you get the footage off the camera and saved to a computer or external hard drive you should be able to keep enough space free.

I have a 16 gb and have never come close to filling that thing up even with HD video.  I always come home and download the files to the computer.  I've had a few of those cards go haywire on me so I don't keep video on them long.

Keep in mind, you are only going to want to watch the same turkey strut and gobble for so long.  After a while its boring.  Editing is where all the work is.  Good Luck!

I've got an 8 gig card in my cannon HF100 HD and i will run out of battery long before I run out of video.  I would suggest getting a smaller one

A 16gb card will give you plenty of recording time. I prefer to have multiple 16gb cards then one 64gb card, that way if you happen to loose a card you haven't lost everything.  Your main thing is to make sure recording speed of the camera is lower than that of the card. I use 15mb/s cards with no trouble. Also you can buy sandisk 16gb SDHC cards on amazon for around $30 shipped. Been using these cards for a while and have never had any trouble.

16 gb is plenty.. you can record plenty of footage with that..  i have a 8gb in my one camcorder and its plenty .for over 2 hours of recording...... check online..an  ebay does have some cheap ones also.. i got my 3-   16gb cards for about 17 dollars shipped to me a piece..
