I have had several Remington shotguns all were good guns one is a 1100 I've had for over 30 years it's fired thousands of shells never any problems now my son is shooting it

Well, I'm a ruger fan for the most part but there have been a few Remington's to find their way into the stable. I've only had three Remington's that were purchased after the Freedom Corp buyout. Two have been fine but the one had extraction issues right out of the box. While it's not a huge deal, it should've never left the factory that way. Again, not a big issue and it was easy to resolve but it is a bit unnerving. Having said that, they've had lots of issues with bores being misaligned, scope mounting holes bored off center and chambers being cut incorrectly. These are things that shouldn't be an issue ever but alas, they slip through anyway.

Tail Feathers

I just talked to a co-worker who just got back from Remington Shotgun Armorer's class.  He said Remington was very up front with the fact their quality had dropped and they were taking big steps to reverse that.
They said that much of their machinery had reached the end of its useful life and replacements were being done.  They admitted they incorporated some lesser quality parts to be used.  Specifically bolt carriers, the lifts and extractors.

I guess only time will tell if they have corrected their problems.

That doesn't necessarily explain what happened to the quality of the Marlin lever guns. They went south shortly after they were bought up as well. It's just odd to me that Marlin was capable of producing a fine lever gun and as soon as Remington acquired them, "POOF", it was over. All of that machinery was still the same. I'd heard a rumor that the people at the original Marlin factory were replaced and that had something to do with it but I'm obviously not on the inside loop so to speak. I do hope they get things straightened out though because there are lots of people that love the Remington line.

I HUNT WITH A REMINGTON 25-06 MY GO TO GUN
AND I BOUGHT A VERSA MAX FOR TURKEY AND I THINK THATS IT
I think Remington isn't as good as they us to be ........
A few years ago I bought a 750 woodsman auto and sent it back three times to get it to cycle
And they seem  to have it fixed but my confidence using the gun isn't there I oiled real good and put it in a socke and it sits in the safe .........
what is the 750 woodsman? Is it a pump or semi auto?

It's the new automatic. It replaced the 7400. The 742 had issues so they replaced it with the 7400. To try and stay with the changing market, they revised the 7400 and came out with the 750. Had this been the Remington of yesteryear, I'd bet that the 750 would have done very well. So far however, the general public hasn't been to impressed according to what I've heard from the fellas at the gun shop.

I've not looked but if they still make it in a carbine, that 308 would be phenomenal.
