Running carbon over copper

Alright call makers/buyers, in between orders I've been experimenting with a new copper call I plan to introduce when I get it just right. The one I'm working on now is a copper running with carbon striker.
Does anybody else run carbon over copper? The problem I'm getting is the carbon digs to much into the soft copper and clogs the striker to quickly. Does anybody else have this problem? I'm thinking to just sticking with hickory or Chechen for the strikers I run on copper. Any suggestions?

I've never tried this but I do have an idea. You might be able to heat the tip enough to clogg the pores without changing the tone much.

Or, very fine sand paper and burnish the tip.

I'm going to try to fire the tip and see if it hardens it. Will update

Try not to visibly melt it, just get it hot. It's probably more of an art than a science. Good luck!

nope mine not carbon  ,,, I would say carbon  copper not good mix ,,,but never know
