Has anyone had any experience with the aftermarket barrel for a 870 made by Carlsons Chokes? I am looking at the 24" barrel to add to my 870 to use for turkey hunting. Thanks for any advise.

I have used some other brands of after market Remington barrels and they have worked just fine. I'm sure the Carlson barrels would be well made products.

Thanks,

What do they offer over a factory barrel?

They are normally less expensive. Sometimes just a fraction of the cost.

My 870 currently has a 28" barrel and I am looking at going shorter for being able to move it a little easier while turkey hunting. I have also found a 870 super mag at my local Walmart with mossy oak camo with a 26" barrel for 374.

I saw some new 26" & 28" after-market 870 barrels for under $100.00. They are matte finished with 3" chambers. The ones I've seen are high quality and threaded for Rem-Chokes. They come with 1 modified choke.

I have that exact barrel on my 870. Got it last season when I had to send my Benelli in for some touch ups before the warranty ran out and it was gone for the whole season. Shot it with the primos jelly head and tightwad chokes. Tightwad was very even and has accounted for 3 gobblers in the last 2 years.

I like it a lot for hunting from blinds on rainy days very easy to maneuver. With LB # 4 it was too tight for me so I went with 3" mag blends.

LB #4 put 141 in 10" circle and magblends put a more even 160 in with room for error.
