To all of our military who have and are serving. You guys sacrifice everything for us and isn't for the money or recognition. I hope you all have a wonderful day and I hope you know that there are still some of us that don't take this for granted. This is your day fellows but it should be a month of remembrance. Thank you.

Not to diminish the valor of all who serve, but today is Memorial Day, not Veteran's Day.

Today we honor who sacrificed their lives in the service of their country.  To those that gave all, and their families, an inadequate Thank You.

I get the whole memorial/veteran distiction. But if you served then you were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. That and I am a little pissed and frustrated. I have spent three days at a volleyball tournament which is located on one of our well known universities. Hundreds of games and teams here. Guess how many times I have heard the national anthem? A moment of silence for our fallen? If you guessed zero then your right on the money. So yeah thanks to everyone who has served.

Discouraging to hear that...

I understand the distinction as well...  But we should not need an excuse or reason to thank those both fallen or still standing.

As of recently at my own office, I am involved in a program that allows veterans to utilize my service through the VA...  I have informed my staff that the first thing they do when taking these patients back is to thank them for their service.

Oddly, I found it a bit awkward or uncomfortable to so so myself at first, but currently find it reassuring.  Especially hearing back from soldiers how much it means to hear a simple "Thank you."

My kids have watched me go out of my way to walk up to men and women in uniform, shake their hand and say "thank you for your service."  When they (my kids) ask why, I tell them, that without them, we would not enjoy the freedom, toys, cars, and jobs that we currently enjoy...  The least we can do is thank them whenever we can.
Did I do that?

I'm not surprised anymore. We can't offend the "others." It's ridiculous but until some people wise up, it will continue to happen. I can't even make a kid stand for the pledge anymore. But alas, I digress.

Thanks to all as well.
