I don't think so.  I thought I would love the pistol grip, used one one season and hated it.  The SX3 is sweet!

I have a standard stocked SX3 with a 28" barrel and it's an excellent shotgun. Mine is an early model with the Pachmayr recoil pad and that's really my only criticism of the gun. The newer models with the Inflex pads are much better. Mine also has a bit more muzzle jump than I'd like but all in all, it's an excellent shotgun.

I love the pistol grip on a turkey gun. If it's a dedicated turkey rig, the pistol grip is great. If you are ok only shooting 3" shells, the weatherby SA-459 is a great alternative to the SX3. having said that the SX3 is an awesome gun. $1054 is a good price
