What do you guys do after you bump birds and I don't just mean like when they putt and walk off I mean they take to the sky and fly the heck outta there! Just curious as to different opinions on how badly it affects them and what not ?

I say a string of words I can't put on this site and go look for another bird. The bumped bird might work that same day, or it might set up shop three farms over.

Sure you can. Let them rip. I'm sure Shannon won't mind.  :TooFunny:

I do about the same thing. Generally though, mine just run off and most manage to do it silently. Having said that, I'll generally leave that bird alone the rest of that day in hopes he comes back soon and wants to play in a day or two. That's about it.

I typically forget about them for the day and try to find another.   I wouldn't hesitate to try them again tomorrow.  Now a bird that just gets nervous and walks off, I give him about 45 minutes and move to a different spot and try him.
If I'm not back in five minutes, wait longer!

Just find another bird.

They'll forget about it.

Go try to find another bird. Come back the next day. (Or usually the next Saturday for me). Try to kill him.

I am with the other guys here.  Move along in the opposite direction and give him a day....nothing can be done.

Thing is birds get bumped all the time. Coyotes, bobcats, dogs etc.. Turkeys don't distinguish between one threat or another. They just see something they don't like and they booger out. I'd bet any given gobbler has a nervous moment every day and gets bumped hard weekly. If they had memories that lasted for more than a few hours they'd never leave the tree.

All of these go along with what I have generally believed. Thanks for responses. Hope to wrap the 3rd tag on that ole dude in the morning.
