Right bird, wrong place

Went out before work this morning. Can only hunt until about 6:30 in the mornings and they're generally still on the roost at that point but I figured with a shortened season, why not try it today. Got a bird good and hot not long after daylight but he was across the road on some other property. Sounded like he'd flown down and was on the ground but I can't be certain about that. Could be my mind playing tricks on me but it also sounded as if he was getting closer. Unfortunately, when I looked back at the time, it was time for me to go. Seriously doubt he was going to cross 3 fences and a hard capped road to get to me but it sure would've been nice. Guess I'll try it again next week. Hoping to seal the deal Saturday before the heavy rains set in. Looks like it's going to wait until later in the morning to start now so that's a good thing.

Just a great way to start off a morning before work. Good luck on Sat.  It's turkey time guys. Don't you just love it...

Well, when you're an educator working for the county/state and not enough time to cal in a sub before going in, showing up late isn't exactly a good option to partake. On the plus side, I did manage to bump into the landowner who owns that piece of property. He's a super nice guy. Won't let me step foot on it, but a super nice guy.  :TooFunny:

Actually, he said he let's the farmer deal with the hunting rights. Offered to give me the number. I'll probably swing back and get it some other day but I'm pretty certain how that's going to play out.
