Has anyone ever drilled a 336 mount to match the pre existing sbe2 mounting holes?

the Ward

Drilled a 336 mount to fit my Vinci (same mount pattern as sbe2) Drilled it to match the two forward mount holes in receiver. Drilled one extra hole in the 336 base to match. Used an old  base as a jig and drilled hole using a drill press and vise. Got a chamfer at the local hardware store to chamfer the hole. I used the 2 forward mount holes because there is not enough meat on the 336 mount to drill 2 holes to match the rear holes in benelli receiver (too close together) As it is, the chamfer will intrude into existing hole in the 336 mount. Take your time and it is easy to do, and go slow chamfering hole so the bit doesn't chatter. Worked out great and you don't have extra holes drilled in gun.

Awesome! Glad to hear that someone else pulled this off. You wouldn't happen to live in arkansas would ya?

Glad I could help! If you run into any problems let me know. I wish I could post up some pics but its mounted and sighted in already.  I'm from up the  northeast Ohio way.

Use a weaver 93A base P/N: 48506...it fits with no modification on the receiver.

Warne makes a 2 piece mount for the sbe2.  Just use whichever one you like, front or rear.  They are very low and sit almost as closee to the receiver

Hey FS, Post a pic when you get it set up please.  Im sure a lot of folks would like it for reference.  Not having to mess with the receiver is a good thing in my mind, or trusting that a gunsmith will d/t correctly so I think this may be the best alternative.

Good luck and enjoy...

I could be wrong but I think Warne needs one hole drilled and tapped...Maybe somebody could chime in who has used that system recently...I have those mounts on my SBE II and seems to run in my mind that they used one existing hole and drilled and tapped another...
