Rem 870 Stock Bolt Length For Compact Stock

Howdy!

I'm new here, first post, but look forward to visiting with the good folks here on this forum.

I have a Rem 870 youth in 20 ga.  Before I purchased it, someone cut stock for a shorter LOP for a child then screwed on an oversize Limbsaver Recoil pad which was never fit to the stock.

So I'm going to order a synthetic stock (butt and forearm) to replace the original wood stock.  Since I still have 3 daughters (ages 12-20) that could potentially turkey hunt with me, I'm thinking of going with a compact sized stock with 13" LOP.

I pulled the stock bolt for the current wood stock and it's 10 1/4" long.  Will that be the length bolt I need for the compact sized, factory, synthetic stock I'll order?

BTW, I would prefer a camo stock and I need to receive it by Friday (preferably Thursday) as turkey season starts Sat.  After looking this weekend, I'll likely have to pay 2 day shipping costs to guarantee I receive the stock by Friday as very few companies have a 20ga camo butt/forend in stock ready to ship.  Any suggestions?  I would be interested in a used set per chance someone has one.

Here is a pic of this 20ga from a few years back.  My middle daughter used it to get her first turkey:

I'm pretty sure it'll use the same bolt. I bought a used 870 express 20ga, and someone cut the stock for a youth, and I wanted a std length wood stock, but couldn't find one. So I got to checking and found that Remington used the same stock on 740, 742, 760, 550 and similar rifles and shotguns. But on those the stock bolt is definitely shorter. I did some measuring, and a 1/2 deep wall socket worked perfectly with my stock bolt.

Thank you Izzyjoe.  I too think the bolt I have will work but I wanted to double check.

Anyone know of a source for a Compact sized (13" LOP) camo stock kit that will fit a 20 ga 870?  I wouldn't mind the Olive Drab overmoulded stock from Hogue except it appears the stock has a lot of drop so I'm unsure how I would like that.  I need to order tomorrow morning so let me know quickly if you have an idea.

I'd recommend that you take a look at this http://www.atigunstocks.com/remington-akita-adjustable-stock It will adjust from 12 3/8" to 14 3/8" so it can "grow" with your daughters. It has a great recoil pad and the comb is also adjustable. I have these stocks on several 870s and other guns as well. They just work.

Thanks,
Clark

Thanks allaboutshooting.

The link is for a 12ga stock.  Maybe they also offer a 20ga stock?

Well, I had to get a stock on order if I wanted to use this 20ga opening morning (this Sat.) so I ordered a compact sized camo stock from Remington this morning from CheaperThanDirt (one of the few places that had this in stock).  They said it would go out today and I upgraded to 3 day shipping so I would get it by Thursday.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Never seen that stock before Clark. If they make it in 20 that is a good stock!

The enclosed link is for a "Synthetic" stock, there is one listed for a wood stock that is shorter.  I could not find one specifically for a Compact stock.
