My Primos Hook Up box call came in today. It already had a little chalk on it. I added some more, though. Is it possible to put too much chalk on the box call?

Buddy of mine has one and i like the box for sure. Always been a Primos guy. As for too much chalk, I've never found that to be a problem yet but I'm sure it could happen.

Some Good box calls don't need no chalk

This is a true statement. A good call maker makes a box that doesn't have to have chalk to run. Chalk just helps increase friction.  That being said I have never seen too much chalk applied. The main effect that too much chalk has is that it gets messy.

I have the same box call and I love it. Just chalk the paddle and not the rails. You should be good to go. Good luck with it.

Older turkey hunter and call maker told me if you don't have it all over you...you don't have enough.

I do not believe that gloves are all that important for hiding.  I just do not think a turkey is going to see my hands and run for the hills...

But, in running a box call, I do feel that gloves are important, cause it stops the sweat and oil from getting on the call.  More important than chalk is preventing that sweat and oil from your own hands on getting on to the call.

I always keep a baggie with a couple paper towels in my bag in case I do get water, sweat, or oil on the call.  Wipe down the call and re-chalk...

I do not believe you can put on too much chalk, and if you do, using the call should solve that problem in short order...
Did I do that?
