Box callmakers

is there really any difference in the top notch box callmakers or is it just your perference?

I think they are all individuals, but to say who is best would be impossible for me.

There are many top notch box call makers but preference is in the caller themselves.  What I like and what you like varies. Myself I like a Turpin style but not everyone does. I have and have run some great sounding Cost Boxes but I prefer a Turpin. It's just a matter of opinion. Just like it's an opinion on who builds the best call is. An Opinion and that's all it is.

My opinion on top box call makers is take walnut/butternut you could tell each one of them how you want the call to sound...tell all of them the same thing...you might get a call that sounds the same but I bet they would all sound different to some degree

My opinion is each call maker has there own "signature" sound.  To me it's the way they interpret a Yelp a cluck a purr....and the way it sounds to them I'm sure everyone's ear can pick up different frequencies of each call and it in turn ends up being tuned into their calls.  There is no doubt that all of the call builders calls will kill turkeys, find one that really tickles your ear hairs and go with it, having confidence in your call and calling abilities goes a long ways.
