Hey guys,

Having issues finding public land in Oklahoma. I've been to their website and looked over their new map system, but it seem to show every public access. I'm pretty sure I looked on there a few months ago and it show much more public access. Anyone have information on this?

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Thanks, but I seen that page and still think there is more than that out there. I knoe I seen a maps that shows all the public access somewhere.

There's not much around Lawton.  If you go further west, you'll find a lot of public.  You can also order a nice atlas from ODWC that has all of the WMAs in it.  It's in the outdoor store section of the website.  Western WMAs include Altus, Sandy Sanders, Black Kettle, Ellis County, Packsaddle, Cooper, Ft. Supply.  There are a few smaller ones, but those are the the most well known.  Black Kettle is very popular.  Lots of birds and lots of hunters.

Thanks, I just thought there might be a few more areas like walk-ins similar to other states where the dnr pays farmer to let people hunt.

You should try this. A friend of mine is pro staff for them and encouraged me to try it out and I LOVE it. You can download a free trial and its good for like 14 days or something. It really helps me out at home and on out of state hunts.

Well, we've just started a walk-in type program here in Oklahoma.  Should be some lands available next season.  They just received the grant to start the program at the end of last year.  Hopefully next year.....

Ok, that makes more since. I seen the articles on that, and thought they had already put it in place. Was really hoping to find some more land near Lawton, I have a friend in college there I was hoping to crash with to save some money on the hotel side of things. Plus I don't know how the birds are there so figured I needed a lot of ground to have access to to find one or two.
