Searched and searched with no real definitive results so pardon another FFIII question.
Where is the best location to mount via the marlin 336 mount on a Rem 1187? I understand the receiver is thicker towards the back but is there a "preferred" spot within that area? Thanks in advance for any information from those with these set ups.

I don't think there is a definitive answer, but for the widest field of view, mount it as far back on the flat top of the receiver. It really isn't that critical, just don't roll off the back even a tiny bit or you could run out of range when trying to sight in. Put a straight edge on it and you'll see.
