Anyone use and prefer Monoculars to binoculars? I'm trying to lighten the load and looking at the Vortex solo 8x25 or 8x36. Opinions or experiences?

Not worth it at all! Your eyes will be so sore if you use it for any amount of time. I had a pair of binoculars break on me out west during a Pronghorn/Elk hunt and only one side worked. It was a BAD deal.
When I turkey hunt I use a DSD decoy

Two eyes better than one anyday...Just get you a set of compact binoculars ..

I was attempting to lighten up my vest a couple years ago & went with a Monocular. I lightened up my vest by a few pounds by buying lighter equipment. The monocular has been good for me. Are binoculars better? Yes. But, the monocular will work just fine. I got the Vortex 8x36 I think.

I am going to bag my first Turkey this spring if it is the last thing I do!

I have always wanted to try a mono. I dont use binoculars much at all but when I do I just look through one side. I'm not sure exactly what it is about my vision but I have never tried a pair that I could focus both eyes. I can get either side clear but when I open both at the same time everything goes to crap.

Never had one but the ones I have looked through did not offer that much of an advantage

Thanks for the opinions.  Difficult  to find Monoculars in local stores to check out.
