Call storage

 I was just wondering how y'all store your calls when you're not using them. At least for me, it seems that when you get a few calls it'd be hard to remember the wood combos and acoustic combos, plus what the strikers are. That's just for the pots  . Then you've got boxes to keep straight. I don't have a bunch, but my remember-er don't work like it used to. Just checking to see what y'all do. Thanks in advance.

All  my calls are stored in my bag and i keep all my mouth calls stored in the refrigerator in a small sealed jar. With my slate calls i have just 3 strikers two are carbon and one is hickory/maple . It's best not to worry about how they are stored ...But...you need to remember what they sound like and what the bird will respond to that day...Sound is what your looking for in a call, sometimes you may need to be load and sometimes you may need to call soft...I do feel carbon strikers will give you a louder sound on slate. My go to slate is a thunderdome with carbon striker. Remember most important SOUND

That's what pre-season is for.  Try 'em all out and see what sounds good to your ear for this season!
I keep mine in a desk drawer or a box for the off season.  I pick out six or seven strikers before each season based on what sound good to me and carry those on a rotation basis through the season.  I do the same with the pot calls usually carry one or two pots and two or three strikers when hunting.
Then I use a mouth call 90% of the time.

I am always practicing with my calls so they nevery really get put away. I keep them pretty handy and am always experimenting with different combos. I have been toying with the idea of trying to take a turkey with a box call. I have never even attempted this and can honestly say I haven't carried one for years. Always been a pot call and diaphram guy.

I'd like to do that as well but I really ain't that good with a box call. I always seem to be to loud.

Most of my strikers are kept in a wooden box, but my more expensive strikers are kept in cigars tubes. I have a plastic tube big enough to fit 3-4 strikers in it that I keep in my vest , that way they don't get wet and are all kept together. I also made a wooden box with shelves to store all my pot calls in and the pots I plan to use just start in my vest......i only have a few box calls that just sit on top of the pot call shelf....

I keep my mouth calls stored in my refrigerator during the off season. I start to break them back out around late January to Febuary and replace what doesn't sound good.
I will be dissapointed if Woodhaven ever stops making the red wasp.
My slate calls are in a shelf where no one else will mess with them. No moisture or humidity to mess them up

After season mouth calls get disinfected in mouth wash , rinsed clean / dried and stored in freezer . All pot calls /boxes etc... get stored in padded hard side pistol cases , this works out really well for me , some mouth calls are more than 5 years old and still sound good !!!
