@rockhound, its public land what are you going to do? Everyone deserves a chance to hunt it, is what it is.  Yeh we all would like 500 acres of private ground, but my broke  cant afford that so I an extremely thankful for what we have and make the best of it.
making the best of it is NOT posting about it all over the Internet. I learned that the hard way. Keep it mostly to yourself and friends. You can offer people advice on public land but keep it general and let them do the scouting just like you did.

Yep everyone who buys the proper license deserves to be able to hunt it, but broadcasting it to the hundreds of thousands of Internet scouters that bombard sites like this this time of year every year is just plain ignorant.

And I have plenty of private land hunt, still hunt public alot.

I couldn't agree more Rockhound....some people just don't get it. The internet has completly ruined one in your home state. I would never hunt it because I know what it has become....but I still won't mention the name !  If you want to help someone why not simply use a PM...?

State property. Owen Putnam state forest. Indiana. all Public land birds.  You really have to do your homework get a DNR map and find a piece of property that doesn't get hunted much it's really hard but it can be done.

There is some decent Public lands around Greene & Sullivan counties as well. Homework is key before you take the test.

Yep, I'm about an hour from that one and hunt it alot. It use to be a GEM. It was an awesome place to experience.  I've killed a few birds there, and I've literally hunted it all season without seeing another hunter. Then it got Internet exposure and in one year it went to crap. People shooting birds in front of people. These idiotic "turkey reapers" crawling behind a decoy while hundreds of idiots with guns are running around.  Not to mention the adjoining landowners that are pissed about constant trespass

But I wonder......How many have been sent to an area that stinks by someone posting on the internet to try to lighten the load somewhere else.....

sorta like ''it must be true, i saw it on the internet,

Some kid ruined my local TN public honey hole by posting like crazy about it on a
Site. Now the damage is done and there's nothing that can be done to reverse it.

Cyberscouting is becoming a lost art!  I do love me some  public land turkey hunting though.  And if you go on the right day, to the right place,  you may just have it all to yourself.
