My season here in SC is done.  I'm going to begin the process of starting a new setup for next year.  I'll be working with a Benelli SBE II. I plan on shooting some sort of Hevi-shot. Be it 6s, 7s or mag blends. What chokes have yall been having the best success with?

I'm not going to rule out Federal HWT 7s either. I like that shell in my 20s but haven't ever tried it in a 12.

I have good luck with the hevi shot and indian creek tubes in mine (24" bbl).....puts up around 200 with mag blends....not a ton but nice and even with room for error.....I shot hevi 7's also and got over 300....just like the higher velocity of the mag blend

First of all, I hope you had a great SC season. This is my first season here since we moved last June. I could not be more pleased to be here and hope to be able to enjoy many more seasons in the SC woods and fields.

You might want to take a look at this http://allaboutshooting.com/article_info.php?articles_id=762 I shot that pattern with my Vinci, same bore as your SBE II, a JEB's .650 choke and "new" Magnum Blend shells with #4, #5 and #7 shot. It's a combination I'd recommend that you at least consider.

Thanks,
Clark

Clark, I've been eyeballing a Jebs for this setup. But have been limited to what I see on this site for results.  Is the velocity of the new mag blends the same as the old load?

It is the same but for whatever reason, the recoil seems much less. The JEB's chokes have done exceptionally well for many of my readers and for me personally. They also did very well with my SBE and in my Nova, since all have the same barrel i.d.

Thanks,
Clark

I have had awesome results with Rob Roberts chokes, .660 . I called and talked with Rob he sent me 4 chokes to try and i picked the one that patterned the H-13 6's and 7's best. I would really look at the Fed. HW 7's if I were doing it all over again . Good luck with your Benelli .PM me if you got any more questions. There's alot of guys on here that have great info on them.

As already mentioned Rob Roberts knows his stuff when it comes to benellis...  Give him a call, he will get you fixed up with the right choke/shell combo.  I really like how when you buy one from him you're not stuck with it if it doesn't pattern like you want - He'll swap it for another one until you get what you need.  Great people to do business with.

I'm shooting RR .660 in my SBE2.  I like it very much.

Indian creek and sumtoy have shot best in mine, closely followed by a wrights no. 3, a jelly head, a hevi-13, and a pure gold. The I.C and the sumtoy will throw over 300 with the hevi 7s.

I get very good results with a Rhino (.660) shooting Nitro's, MagBlends and Federal Heavyweight #6's as well.

.650 Sumtoy and .655 rob Roberts both shot well for me with the 3" Mag-Blends.

660 jelly head shoots lights out for me, all the hevi loads I have tried shoot very well!  it is an older jelly head, not sure if it makes a difference!

PALongspur

Call Rob Roberts and be done with it!

My SBEII likes a Final Strut .650 with just about every shell I've tried (Xtended, HeavyWeight, Mag Blend, Longbeards).
