One time we were hunting in Missouri off the eleven point river we had the 8 person tent within rock throwing distance of the river. I keep telling the guys to keep the tent door closed at all times but did they listen no.. will about the third night after eating and setting around the camp fire we go to bed .. now this was bad in the day you sleep on the tent floor with a cheap 30 dollar sleeping bag.. we had just layed down and one of the boys said I hear something on the floor we all came running out of that tent and after getting outside of the tent we get a flashlight and start moving sleeping bags etc and guess what we found a great big water snake inside the tent thank the lord it wasn't a cotton mouth or any other kind of poisonous snake... from that time on you didn't have to tell anyone to keep the tent door closed...those were fun times camping and turkey hunting... back then in Missouri you would walk in a small circle hearing so many turkeys gobbling trying to decide which one to go to...hunting at its best...

Sounds like a hell of a time.

Mine was about 4 years ago back before I quit drinkin. I tent camped 3 different locations in 2 different states 15 straight days without sleeping in a bed. Started off temps in the 80 ' s in the day and 70's at night. Before the trip was over we had 31 degree nights and 50 degree days. At night I'd sit around drinkin by the fire but when it came bed time I'd knock out a half pint of whiskey in about 10 minutes. That helped on those cold nights. Sure didn't help having to get up and get dressed though. that was a hell of a fun time. Killed birds everywhere we went, (including them stubborn LBL birds)

I think we ended up shooting 4 or 5 birds and catching a couple nice messes of hybrids and white bass. We got into some big white bass one cold morning after I killed an lbl gobbler early.

I'll try to get some pics from that trip. We had the hottest fire Goin that I've ever seen. Yiu could throw a beer bottle in the fire and within 10 minutes it was completely melted, no bottle at all.

I don't think anything will ever top that trip.

Forgot to mention my partner in crime on that trip was my wife. It's something we do every year but with our schedules we have now we are lucky if we can camp 4 or 5 days a time a couple times a year.

I sure would like to take off on about a one month trip from Florida back to Kentucky then to WV next year
