Hey fellas, hope everyone has had a good season thus far. I've enjoyed all of your pictures and stories once again this season! I was fortunate enough to tag out in my home state of NY less than two weeks into the season, and I am needing to scratch the itch a little more before I put the gear away for the year. I had taken this coming week off of work with plans to travel and hunt somewhere, planning to go with a friend. Unfortunately, just recently my friend had to back out when he was hit with some unexpected financial problems leaving him no money to spare on a turkey trip.
So now I'm considering flying solo at it, and trying to get on some birds in a state neighboring NY. Probably just a couple or 3 days, somewhere I can get on some decent sized pieces of public and do some exploring. I hate to be that guy on a forum looking for a place to hunt, but I could use a little guidance. I have primarily considered VT and northern PA given that they are both pretty reasonable drives from upstate NY, but I am open to suggestions. I would like to hunt some more mountainous/big woods type of territory as I have not had the privilege of doing so very often. High bird numbers are not something I care a whole lot about honestly, although I would like to hear some gobbling, this is as much about me needing a little getaway and some quality time in the woods, killing a bird is just a bonus.
Obviously not looking for anyone's public land honey hole, but it would be greatly appreciated if anybody had some advice on general areas I may consider looking into. In return I would be more than happy to trade info on a couple different regions of NY if anybody was interested in that. Thanks guys!
