Shannon maybe your list speaks Volumes. If they wasnt so good. A for how hard the are to build. Well i have 2 crappy ones that I built. You spoke no truer words . They are not easy to build.

Shannon, Old Gobbler makes very a very good push pin call. They can be very deadly on turkeys. If they were easy to make you would have a lot more call makers building them. Just as Shannon says get you a Winky Hicks Sweet Hen or the Loftis Chatterbox. Then maybe later try one of Shannon's calls. They are very nice and all turkey.

My 9 year old is addicted to hunting,especially turkey hunting.He's getting better with both a box call and a diaphram but I'd like to get him some a little easier to use so he can get the rythym and pitch down.I've been trying to find some info on the Loftis chatterbox but have come up empty as far as price and availability.Any idea how to find out?

I bought a Loftis chatterbox because of this thread, and I love it.  It wants me to be a turkey, if that makes sense.  I am by no means a great caller, but it may be the only call I've never hit a sour note on and thought "what was that?"


I think I'm going to order one of their crystal pots just to help their business.  Also they are fellow South Carolinians.  They could be Clemson fans living where they do, but I can look past that.
