Will hevi 13 pattern relatively the same as lead? I have my red dot  shot in using Longbeard lead shells and was wondering if I needed to repattern using heavy shot since I just got a box and will be hunting in the morning and I am a little concerned about just going out and shooting at a turkey having not pattered it on paper first. Thoughts?

You're talking about point-of-impact instead of pattern, correct?  If so, it CAN happen, but I wouldn't count on it.

I wouldn't be remotely concerned about it unless you are going to stretch your distances out.  40 and in, even if you see a decrease in percentages you will be fine.

Actually, I would be MORE worried about the close shots when the patterns are tighter.

x10. anything im going to hunt with will be dialed in before hunting. if I change anything up , I am going to check it before attempting to kill something with it.

stick with the long beard until you can check you point of aim with the heavys ,,why risk it ..there is nothing wrong with the long beards and thy are a heck of a lot better price wise ,,,Dutch

Unless I am 100% positive of where my shot is hitting on paper, I refuse to bring it into the woods.
Too much bad can happen.

I was shooting the long beard 6 shot and bought a box of hevi magnum blend. I had the long beards set in when I shot one of the magnum blend I shot a foot left of the target where I was shooting. I would defiantly shot them before I went hunting with them.

Did you send another down the pipe to make sure that wasn't due to an anomaly?  I.e., bad trigger pull, bad alignment or something else?

you should be fine I get ripped on for  killing them with a bead on my 870 but I have missed one time in my last probably 40 birds from 10-60+ with various load combinations currently I shoot nitro company hevi 4-5-6 and it has to same POI as most lead loads I have shot.

I do not understand at all exactly what changes from load to load to cause a change in POI?

I have no problem understanding what can change when changing chokes, sights, shims, etc that actually change something about the gun.

When running any type of optics in the past I have always gotten close to dialed in shooting light lead loads - typically #8 lead in 2.75.  Never had any type of sudden change in POI when changing over to hevi to get a good count on the pattern after that.

Varying velocities, wad designs, lots of variables.  At 25 yards, the centers of my patterns hit roughly two inches lower shooting Hevi13 shells than with faster loads, like Win HV's and Long Beards.  My 835 is similar in that shoots a few inches to the left with higher velocity shells.

Federal FCW 6's and 7's hit 8 inches right of Winchester and 4-6 inches right and 4-5 inches higher than H13 out of my 870 20 gauge with the same choke.

Stick with the LBs until you pattern the hevi.

SHOOT YOUR GUN BEFORE HUNTING WITH IT!!!!
It will make a difference. If Hevi 13 changes from year to year, which it does, it will certainly change when going from one type and manufacture to another!!!
