Your right, I'm finding I actually only turn the howard lights up about half way.

The paperwork says they have 4x amplification   and 350 hrs battery life. I'm still on the battery's I put in new last summer. Also auto shut off after 4 hours.

The hearing protection along with amplification is great.

Try and gradually increase them as your ears become adjusted. 1/8 turn makes a lot of difference when done in increments. I use mine at almost full volume, but then I may have more severe hearing loss.
