New turkey gun, options.

I am in the market for a new turkey gun. I am really only looking at pump models. I really like the size of the mossberg tactical turkey guns with the ar style rear stock. But unfortunately I can not stand how noisey the front fore grip is. They all seem very sloppy!  I would like to find an all camo version of the 870 with ar style rear stock and pistol grip. I found it on buds gun shop website. They are out of stock. I can't find them on the Remington website. It says SPS SMG 12 apg. I don't know if this is an old gun. Maybe they don't make it anymore? It is in realtree all purpose green and has a Knoxx rear stock on it. Any body got any info? Thanks

You cant go wrong with a Remington 870! I recommend getting the Super Magnum so you have the ability to chamber 3.5" shells. Even if you prefer 3" atleast you have the choice. I run a 870 SM with Hevi-Shot .662 choke with Longbeard #5s and get some great patterns.

  When I think pump guns, I think 870. The Benelli Super Nova is also nice.

That gun your seeing I think is the old max gobbler model and it's no longer in production. You could alway build one. Just find matching stock online and buy the matching gun in camo

Yep SPS Max Gobbler. Have one and love it. Good luck finding one but as mentioned you can buy a 870 and a knoxx after market stock and you have the same thing.
That with a Indian Creek choke and some HeviShot #7s your setting pretty

Well I decided to build a shotgun. Gonna be dual purpose for me and my son. Gonna do a compact 20 gauge 870 because they are on sale at bass pro for $309 plus I have a couple gift cards. I like the barrel length on the compact. Gonna try to find a knoxx adjustable recoil reducing stock. Then when I find the extended choke I like, I'm gonna have the whole thing hydr dipped in mossy oak new bottomland. Then I'll top it off with a Burris ff3. This will be a dedicated turkey gun. If anyone has a set up similar to this post up some pics!

Clean the barrel and maybe give it a pollish, add a (don't laugh) .575 HS Undertaker choke and some Fed HW #7.  It is quite possible you'll have a very solid 40 yard performer.

I see the Knoxx/Blackhawk stocks pop-up every once in a while.

Also look at ATI's stock.

For now...the ATI is all that's really available for the 870 20 ga.  Occasionally you can get lucky and find a Knoxx on eBay but I've seen them go for $200.  The 870 12 ga has unlimited options.  I've always shot 870's and have loved every minute.

If it were me, I would buy a Mossberg 20 ga 510 Mini, put an adult stock on it, throw a SumToy or SSX choke in it, top it with a FFIII, on a 336 base, buy up as much Federal heviweight 3-1.5-7, as I could, and be happy forever!
This is what my son shoots, minus the aftermarket choke.
This will get you a solid 40 yard performer, and those #7 heviweights hit like Thor's hammer! There is no finer HTL load commercially available for the 20 ga. than them.
If I had it to do all over again, that is exactly what I would do. No question.

I believe I found the missing link. Mesa tactical sells a part for under $30 that allows you to mate a 12gauge stock to a 20 gauge receiver. I like the 870  compact because I like the overall length with the 21" barrel. I can't bring myself to purchase a mossberg. Everyone I have ever picked up the front fore grip rattles around really bad.
