2 Aluminum Prototypes....

Ok, I haven't built an aluminum call in years. Just didn't like the way they sounded. After reading how so many hunters like aluminum calls, I decided to give it another try. I spent all last week building 2 prototype calls. Each are identical except the pedestal. Walnut pot, Anodized Aluminum over slate, same inside dimensions. Take a minute and listen, and post up which one you like best, #1 or #2, or if you have any other comments, they are welcome. I agree with lou, neither.
To me they sound a bit goosey, the rollover is soft and next to nothing for rasp. A different striker may help some, but the calls don't have much depth in the tone?

Looking at your striker tracks, it looks like you are running the call in the middle of the calling surface, which is the deadest part of the pot. Start about 1/4" from the rim and move downwards finding the high to low breaking point. Here are a couple of videos that will help.
