Mounting Fastfire III to Supernova Pistol-Grip

I've seen old threads discussing ff iii mounts on other benellis but haven't been able to find specific info on mounting to a supernova steadygrip (pistol-grip) which came pre-drilled. I want to mount as low as possible, might be using a burris protector plate, and don't think I want to do the speedbead mount.

I know many on here like the 336 mount. Does this mount directly on top of the receiver without need for a weaver or picatinny rail? Does anyone know if the holes in the 336 match up with the holes in supernova pistol-grip? If so, is it in suitable position (not too far back or forward)? Does the protector plate work with the 336 mount as well?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome Hycotee,

I have this exact setup and just got finished with it in the last few weeks.  Although I have been told different, I do not believe that you can (or are supposed to) use the 336 mount with the protector mount.   I bought both and there is no slot on the 336 mount for the cross bolt on the protector mount.  One is supposed to attach the FF3 directly to the 336 mount.  I did not feel comfortable doing this so I stuck with my weaver rail and the protector mount.

The 336 mount does not directly line up with the holes.  I have seen threads where guys had another hole drilled either in the receiver or the mount itself to get it where they want it. Hope that helps.

Thanks, hybridtom.

Do you recall which particular weaver rail you have? I've gotten conflicting info on Burris mount compatability with weaver vs. picatinny rails.

Are you pleased with how it sits height-wise with your setup -- any need for a cheek riser? I've seen that some people want that when using a picatinny rail.

Overall, do you like having the protector, or does it distract or limit your view?

Thanks again.

It is a weaver 93a.  Holes line up perfectly, but the screws are not long enough.  For those I used
m4 x .70 x 8mm screws.  I don't think one would need a cheek comb but to each his own.  If it is sighted in right, does not matter if your cheek is on there or not.  If the dot is on it, it's dead cheek weld or not.

The protector does not limit the view in any way.  I think I am going to love it much more than a scope.
