Okay, I have used a backpack for deer hunting for years and a vest for turkey hunting, I am considering going to a small backpack/day pack for turkey hunting.  Most people use a vest but I was wanting to reach out to the masses to see if you have good/bad experiences with packs in the spring turkey woods.

Thanks for any and all responses.

Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

I tried a backpack and did not like it...

I like to run & gun, and I found a backpack to be inconvenient whilst trying to sit down quietly and quickly.  Plus, if I want to get to something quickly (such as a call or binoculars) it becomes inconvenient as well...

I tried a well organized shoulder bag as well, but if the need arises to move quickly it flops about awkwardly unless you hold on to it.

Plus, I often have a decent walk back to the truck when I do get a bird, and stuffing it in the game bag is a good way to carry a bird, which you cannot do with a shoulder pack or backpack...

If I did not have access to a vest, I would rather carry a shoulder bag, because of the inconvenience of having to remove a backpack every time I sit against a tree.

.
Did I do that?

Fly fishermen are born honest, but they get over it.

I use a backpack a lot. Works well for me, probably use it more than a vest. Makes it really nice if you get a bird and have a long walk out.

I normally use a vest in the morning and a fanny pack or backpack for the afternoon hunts.  I use the pack to take food maybe a couple of decoys and a blind.
