Last couple years, I have had access to duck hunt a pond up in the foothills... Last couple years, birds are gobbling in early December and January... Hunting quail in past years, it is not uncommon to hear them gobble in December and January. (Hunting central California)
Last season (2013-2014) was my first year hunting the area, and there were easily 20 birds gobbling by late January. When turkey season came around, there were only 3 toms on that property that I heard or saw... Guess the dominant birds pushed the others off come breeding season???
