Polishing a chromed barrel

Can I polish my barrel and how? It is chromed.

Don't do it.  For one there is no need.  You cannot improve on the chrome lining.  You could possibly damage it also.  That chrome lining is smooth and thin.  You could only scratch it up or worse wear thru.

Deep clean is all you need.

Every couple of years I polish my Benelli barrels.  I don't use scotch bright or a drill though.  I use a brush with a cleaning patch wrapped around it.  I'll put Kroil on a the patch then add JB bore cleaner and run about 50 full back and forth strokes.  Then I do the same thing with JB bore shine.  Makes them shine.  It's never hurt anything either.  I put up consistent numbers year after year with my guns.  Just did my M2 last week. Going to do my SBE 2 again next week.  It's been 3 years since I did it last.

Never thought about polishing mine. Does anyone have any routine for a deep clean on one of these barrels?

Don't know about "deep cleaning", but I clean my Beretta between every shot when patterning and turkey hunting (unless I missed, reload, and keep hunting ). I pull a bore snake through 4 times, then saturate a nylon bristled cleaning brush (Shooter's Choice eats up the bronze ones too quickly) with Shooter's Choice and do 50 strokes. Then I push a mop covered with a patch through the bore several times, turn the patch over, pull and do several more strokes. Then I add a second patch on top of the dirty first one (makes for a very tight fit in the bore) and pull it through several times. It's amazing how much more gunk still shows up on that second patch. Sounds more involved than it is, and it takes me about 5 minutes between shots. It's the only way to really compare apples to apples when patterning. If you don't clean between shots, your bore is in a different condition each time you shoot.

*Run a wet patch down the barrel until the barrel is good and coated. (Hoppes #9)
*Run a wet brush down the barrel 10-15 times rewetting the brush every so often. (down and back is one)
*Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
*Go back and run a wet brush 10-15 times.
*Wipe out with clean patches.

*Use a Tico tool in between shots when patterning and after each shot during turkey season. Always shoot clean this way.

*Have seen 30+ pellet increases from chrome lined bbl. I don't deep clean my chrome lined barrels as much as I do my standard barrels.

330's in a 10 @ 40   Hevi 13 3.5/2.25/7's

280's in a 10 @ 40  Hevi 13  3/2/7's

I use flitz on my benelli barrel with a cordless drill, looks like a mirror and stays that way for a while, really easy to clean after!
