I have a mossberg that I truely love, it shoots such a good pattern with a kicks choke. Problem is the butt is a little too long. I'm not a big fella, and was told its hard to cut them down because of the blocks used to tighten it up. Question is can a person order a smaller butt for that gun? I measured from where the butt starts down to where the recoil pad starts and its 19 1/2". I was wanting to shorten it about an inch or two. Any suggestions would be greatfully helpful. Thanks

I put an ATI pistol grip on mine and it shortened the length of pull.  I am 6'1" and the original stock felt fine to me but the shorter stock actually made it feel more comfortable.

Thanks for your input davisd9, really had no idea but thought I might get a few more responses, but maybe my question seemed dumb. I'll check into it.

You could put something like this on it.

Cutting the plastic factory stock is going to be a huge PIA. You could find a wooden one online and cut that very easily.

You can cut the factory stock and put a limbsaver slip on recoil pad on it or you can put an adjustable pistol grip stock on it and have the luxury of adjusting it at will, I use a knoxx nrs pistol grip but I would suggest an ati pistol grip stock if you go that route, I love a pistol grip bc of the ease of one handed control it offers in a calling position and the adjustability bc you can shorten it up when you are hunkered down against a tree calling

You can put an ATI adjustable hunting stock on it. It has 4 positions of adjustment from 12 3/8" to 14 3/8", an adjustable comb height, a great recoil pad and looks like a regular hunting stock. It will also really help to reduce the recoil from your 835. I have those stocks on several shotguns and they really work.
