1200 vs. 1300 model winchester

Can anybody tell me the differences between the 1200 and 1300 model winchesters. Thanks.

Most of the 1200 will be 23/4 shells.  A few of the latter 1200's had screw in chokes in them.  (most the others can be threaded).    The 1300's are 3 inch, vent rib, and screw in chokes.  Barrels and most parts are interchangeable.

hope to send you a 1300 barrel next week to have forcing cone lengthened and choke to made for it. I bought one locally and pick it up tomorrow. It's new in box. NWTF model with laminated wood stock and 21" barrel with rifle sights, smooth bore. I couldn't believe it when i saw it.

Thanks William, I picked one up today that is in real good shape, it has a 28" vent rib barrel with screw in chokes. It came with four chokes in what looks like the original package with the choke wrench.

I don't take credit for this information. It was posted on another forum when someone asked the same question you did. It is informative however and thought you might find it of benefit.

All basically the same gun. As has been said, the 1200 is normally 2 3/4" but there was a 3" mag. model labeled 'Magnum'. The 1300 was the next version and all of those have 3" capabilities. The 120 and Sears 200 were both available in 3", although I think the Sears 200 originated in a 2 3/4" only version. All barrels, butt stocks, and forearms (as well as SOME, but not all) other parts are generally interchangeable, regardless of barrel chamber length. However, I have found some of the 200 series barrels that would not interchange due to different chamber choulder machining notches...wouldn't quite seat, although they appeared externally identical. You can put a 1300 3" barrel on a 1200 2 3/4" chambered gun, as long as you only use the shorter shells. The standard 1200 is capable of being modified to 3" by a gunsmith. The 1200 and 200 were available in 16 gauge, as well as 20 and 12.

Hunting partner of mine has an old 1200 that he still hunts with, got it in the early 70's, it is a turkey slayer.  Few years back he had it dipped and got Rhino to install a aftermarket choke, it throws a swarm of 5's for a 2 3/4" gun.  Hoping he wills it to me, that guns gotta keep huntin'.
