Might I suggest this    http://www.midwayusa.com/product/699899/past-super-mag-plus-recoil-pad-shield-ambidextrous    It will take the sting out of that 835.

The SSX is one hell of a choke no doubt.  I would also tell you that a old Star Dot choke I bet would be even better.

Where do you find a Star Dot Choke? It looks like they're out of business?

I just finished a several month long evaluation of chokes with the new Mossberg 835 with the Matthews Harmonic Dampner Recoil Reduction System, comparing that gun to an older 835, a 935 and an SSi-ONE. I shot a real variety of brands, designs and exit diameters, with a variety of 3" and 3.5" shells with #4, #5, #6, and #7 shot.

I had done this many years before but there were some new players in this evaluation.

I think many of you will be interested in what I discovered.

As you know, allaboutshooting.com is moving from Illinois to South Carolina and I may not be able to publish the results of my evaluation before the move.

If I'm not able to do that, I will get it published in mid to late June, when all is settled.

I believe you'll find the results worth the wait.
