Proverbs 31:10-12 and 25-31:...A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.....
I chose this scripture as a basis of this short devotional. A good wife(mother) is the most prized possession that a man can ever claim. She is often the cornerstone of the relationship. She is often the one who carries the weight of the family, withstands the onslaught of daily life's battles, both physically and spiritually. And she should be remembered every day, not just on some Hallmark Day. Mother's of high stature do not have to stand 6 feet tall, for their presence far outshines and over shadows the normalcy of any physical attribute. Mother's whose love is boundless, do not need diamonds and pearls, to remind them how much they are appreciated, because their love is what keeps them earnestly and sincerely attached to their family. Not baubles and nick knacks, but hugs and smiles.
To all the mothers I pray for your life to be as joyful as humanly possible. I pray that all of your journeys lead you to a happy home. I pray that your family recognizes your contribution and rewards you with endless and unadulterated love. On this day, and every day, I offer you my best wishes. And to the families whose blessed mothers have gone on to be with the Lord, I pray your memories last you a lifetime. And that one day, you will be reunited with your mother in Heaven.
