Thinking about having my 870 dipped in camo before next spring.  I had my Beretta 3901 dipped years ago & it has not held up well at all even with limited use.  Just like to know how everyone's factory camo has held up over the years.  Planning on using Rob Roberts by recommendations here on this forum.

Im not sure but i think this process has changed in the last few years, there are a handfull of places within 30 miles of where i live that does the camo dipping. I have looked into hetting a gun dipped but havent yet.

These places are doing truck rims, atv plastics and rims, pretty much anything that will fit into their dip tanks with great sucess. They are useing very durable vehicle grade pigments nowadays. I have personally seen some atv rims that were done a year ago and after alot of hard riding they still clean up very well.

I believe these newer processes will last a lifetime.

Looked like on my Beretta they just didn't put anything over the camo dip to protect it.  It wore off the bottom of the receiver rather quickly after only about a half dozen dove hunts.  Was just wondering did everybody else's did this also.

Yep greyfox, this was my exact concern also. I have personally spoken to all of the people that own these hydrographic places and was told that they also use automotive grade sealers overtop of the camo paterns, anyhing from a very dull satin to a very shiny clearcoat.

I have looked at a few synthetic rifle stocks that were dipped and cleared to look like exhibition grade walnut ect. And was amzed by it! The camo patterns are awesome also. Im sure most companies can use the same processes, i beilieve you would be very happy with the outcome.

Here are a couple of the websites that have sample pictures of some of he items they have dipped, should give you an idea of what patterns ect.

Liquidillusions.com out of chambersburg PA.
Extremeliquiddesigns.com out of Needmore PA.

I know they are dar from you but should have similar products as the ones near you.

If you have already made your mind up that you are going to use Rob...Then you have nothing to worry about.
