Have you been tired? Have you been wiped out, feeling like you are just scraping along the ground, and the slightest incline has you bottomed out, and stalled? We all face inclines of differnet natures in our lifetimes, and we all become tired and weary, in all areas of our lives- physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
However, many of us, do so unnecessarily.
The Scripture tells us in Matthew 11:28-30, we have hope, rest, and Jesus to carry our burdens.
Matthew 11:28-30(NKJV)
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
For those of us not familiar with a yoke, a yoke is a wooden harness which fits over the shoulders of one or two animals, and is attached to a piece of equipment like a plow. The animal(s) are able to pull the piece of equipment due to the yoke.
Jesus is the one speaking in the above verses. He is telling us, the ones with burdens, He is able to free us from these burdens. It is the burdens we bear, which tire us, and make us weary. Whether it be sin, persecution, or even the lack of God in ones life, Jesus, is the peace and joy we need to become free from these things.
Yes we will still labor, but we will labor with peace, energy, and the assurance which only Jesus can give.
Isn't your yoke heavy enough?
Maybe you ought to trade it in to Jesus.
Heavenly Father,
Forgive me of my pride and selfishness, thinking I could carry and pull this yoke myself. I have stumbled, fallen, and tried again and again, my way, only to find I am weary and weak.
Pick us up again Father, but this time, with Your yoke of peace, and assurance. Let us do things, Your way, and be a testament for You, and Your glory, in each and every thing we do, today, and forever more.
We thank You for Your son Jesus, which through Him, we have a home with You. Let us stay focused on the fight at hand, finish strong, and keep our eyes upon You.
For it is in the name of Jesus, our Saviour, and Redeemer, we ask, and claim these things, Amen!!
God Bless,
David B.
