Hey guys.  I just got done re-doing the factory paint job on a couple strutter decoys.  I was thinking about spraying a very light coat of some clear matte finish over just the heads to help protect the paint from rubbing off and prolonging wear.  I obviously don't want any light reflection, but has anybody ever done this or what do you think... good idea or not?  Thanks!

Duck guys do that a lot.  Unless your name is Picasso, I wouldn't worry about it.   ;D

I do this often. Tape off the head so that over spray won't get on the feather area. Spray the painted head with a matte polyurethane, wait about 30 minutes and spray it again. Let it dry for about 2 days, then take an old used scotchbrite pad and lightly buff the sprayed surface to make any shininess even flatter. If you want to, take some clear or black glossy enamel (fingernail polish) and carefully go over the eyes so that they look wet. This should get you going.

Perfect.  Thanks guys!  Glad to know others use the idea.  I'm no Picasso :)  I just didn't want to mess up a nice custom paint job or spook birds.
