Scattering spring birds???

I know that scattering fall birds is a common method of hunting...  Any of you guys find scattering spring birds to be a viable strategy?

How successful is scattering spring birds?
When do you scatter them (i.e. right off the roost?)?
What is the best way to create the scatter?  Run in yelling and waving arms, or fire a round off???
What situation would cause you to try and scatter birds?

Scattering birds can work really good. Get him at night scattered away from the hens n first thing in morning you have a good shot at him. I don't do it but if watching them at night n something busts the flock you can have a great tomo

I've busted up field birds like that before, and it worked great, especially early in the season.  You'll want enough terrain to sneak within 100 yards of them, though...and go running full sprint between the hens and the toms.

In all honesty it never occurred to me to bust em' up in the spring till reading a post on this forum.  I never seem to have much luck killing birds coming off the roost, and the majority of my birds come at mid or late morning... 

My hunting spots are all over an hour away...  With two small kids at home, and a lack of free time, busting them up the night before is not an option...  Although it sounds like a great idea...

If/when you bust them up during the day, how long do you wait till you start calling?

I have thought about going in at first light and busting the hens off the roost, and in doing so, try to push them away from the toms...  Then set up between the toms and hens.

I've only busted them in the evening right before roost.  He did not like sleeping alone all night and was fired up in the morning.
