Using a trumpet while hunting?

Okay, I practiced my trumpet this winter and felt like I could use it to hunt this spring.  I ran into two issues. 

#1 Playing with gloves on is harder then no gloves.  I need to practice with them on my hands I guess.

#2  My face mask needs a slit cut into it so I can place the mouth piece in my mouth without having to fight the stupid mask and pull it up and down all the time.

Do you have any tricks when using a trumpet in the woods on a hunt?

LOL..........Don't wear gloves or a face mask.  Check out you tube posts and you'll see great callers using their without the stuff.

1. Tight gloves, paint, charcoal, or burnt cork on hands. 

2. Dragonfly (Jason Shaffer) makes adjustable lanyards that allows the trumpet to sit right next to your mouth when sitting. He can be reached on Osage Roost.

3. Some use no gloves and face mask. I myself feel naked without them.

All are just suggestions. I ran into the same thing when first using a trumpet.

Different gloves will deaden the sound as well.

I would be open to no gloves or maybe the fingers cut off but going without a mask would be hard to do.

I have found gloves negatively affect sound of trumpet. We use camo paint on hands and cut slits in facemasks.

I always cut the index and middle finger out of my right glove. I can't use a striker with gloves either.

Camo paint sounds like the answer to me, remember in the old days before all this covering up? I did some looking on the net and also found these.....

Me too, and part of the thumb too.  I can't hold a striker without cutting those three fingers off a glove.

I like those Primos brand long cuff gloves.  Tight enough to minimize running a trumpet, and the long cuffs keep the wrist watch covered up, and another layer for the ticks to try and fight through.

I just wait to put the gloves on after I know the gobbler is coming. I use a half-mask that is held on only by an elastic band around the top. No trouble to stick the call under the mask.

Use burnt cork on the back of your hands..

     Try a spandoflage mask & cut a slit in it....

I take my gloves off when running the trumpet. Once the turkey is coming I put my gloves on, the trumpet foen and finish with a mouth call. My facemask has a hole for the mouth so it doesn't bother me when calling on a trumpet.

Just leave the gloves off.

With the gun on a knee and both hands either on the gun or the call not much skin is exposed.

I had a hen walk within 10 feet from me on Sunday, she stayed within gun range for 15 minutes and I called glove less with a trumpet many times answering some gobbler that were beyond her. She was trying to see me (or the source of the sound) and would focus right on my position every time I called. She never spooked just wandered off.

I've got a pair of spandex like camo gloves there Primos manufactured a few years ago only gloves I found that I could play without distorting the sound but a buddy of mine has a BUG suit and some of those bug gloves work ! I don't think Primos makes those gloves anymore !
