I don't usually give up this easy but after several scouting trips to VA's GW National forest,i'm giving up on a public land hunt for now.Seems like a lot of public access is blocked by small tracts of private/posted ground and most were hunting camps with no one around to try and get permission from to cross into the NF.I might have to go with a guided hunt.Anybody know of a good guided or semi-guided hunt I would appreciate it.

Have you talked to the Forest Service and/or area Game Warden about egress rules on those roads?  Here in New Mexico, we travel through posted private land all the time without explicit permission to enter National Forest land and BLM land. Generally you can travel the roads, but not hunt the posted land on either side.

Ya I would think there would be someway you would have to be able to access the public land. Not sure its legal for private landowners to landlock access to public areas.I'd get on the horn a make a few calls. You may have tons of land all to yourself if lots of others have given up for the same reason you stated.

There is plenty of access to all areas of the gwnf ive been to. what area have been looking in. You may not cross private land to access in va as far as i know but most all areas have some access. Plenty of forest roads. You need to call the office of the section you are interested in.

Idk   but they sure block it in Colorado, even gate it. Road rights have to be negotiated the Game Warden told us.

Sounds like someone has a little scouting to do!!!

Public land gobblers don't come easy brother... No green field atv's and ground blinds with 3 DSD decoys...

Do your home work kill that public land gobbler and enjoy the fact that you earned your
