I thought you said it was a 870.

The newspaper will work for a target.

Shoot some loads and label them for choke and load used and post them here.  Can't help what we can't see.

You can show some 30yd patterns if you want.  Shoot off of a bench with the gun rested so you better hit the center of target.  I would like to see some 40yd patterns.

Like others said, tighten nut, deep clean, and go thru the steps to polish the barrel of the gun, this really helps with a pattern.

I'm not gonna tell you to clean the barrel for I honestly don't think it helps from my findings.  I very seldom ever clean my 835 or 870 or the other shotguns I have owned over the years and all would shoot consistently well.  My 835 and Star Dot choke will shoot with the best of them on here, and that's a clean barrel and choke or a dirty barrel and choke.

:TrainWreck1:  for now forget the cleanin and shoot the side of a barn or something. I bet it's a poi/poa problem. Your shot is going nowhere close to where your aim

This is sound advise. If he misses the broad side of a barn he has other issues.

Kidding aside I would fallow the advise you received so far and take it from there. My dad hunts with a browning gold and with his IC choke his gun is about 2 feet low by 2 feet to the right. Thats in a lead sled. If he shot a newspaper he may have a few hits. with a 4' x 4' sheet of paper we can see the problem.

Get a sheet of plywood and wrap it with Christmas paper, shoot for the middle @ 30yds and see where your point of impact is verses point of aim/line of sight. You will find your problem, sounds like a POI problem like others have already stated.
