Played with my SBE yesterday, and wanted to see what the difference was between 3" and 3.5" Fed HW #7's.

40 yards 10" circle
3" 150
3.5" 202

50 yards 10" circle
3" 82
3.5" 118

3.5" gets the nod on these.  That said, a turkey target with both 3" and 3.5" shells indicated lethal hits regardless of the shell at 50 yards.

Just found this great site!

Thanks.  My son's 20 GA using those shells is the bomb at 40 yards.  Last year we patterned his youth model BPS with that short 20" barrel out to 50 yards.  He killed a nice 23lb Tom with 1.5" spurs facing him at 45 yards.  Dumped him right there.

It's really a good feeling when you have that kind of confidence in your gun.

I have a SBE2 and have been wondering about that combo looks like i might have to give it a try.

Was this the Trulock choke made especially for the Fed Hvywght #7's??  And what size is it??  Thanks.

sakoluvr

Yes, it's the Trulock made for Fed #7 HW.  They don't show the constriction on the web page, but I think it's .660

I asked when I ordered it, but forgot.  If you call, they will tell you.  The package does not indicate the secret constriction either.   ::)
